Co-ride managers Aurora Grohman and Tera Allen are lifelong horse girls.
Tera grew up in the Redding area taking advantage of all of the wonderful trails that Whiskeytown and the surrounding areas have to offer; Aurora originally hails from the East Coast and has been riding the trails in and around Butte County for the last 12 years. Tera and Aurora met on trail at the West region’s Mendocino Magic Endurance Rides in 2013 and have been enjoying snarky ponies and fabulous rides together ever since.
About the Ride
From 2003 – 2016 (excl. 2010) the AERC sanctioned Whiskeytown Chaser endurance ride was held in April in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and bordering BLM areas. Tera and Aurora loved riding this event and have missed it on the AERC ride calendar for the last couple of seasons.
In 2018 the Carr wildfire ripped through over 200,000 acres in the Redding area, including 90% of the Whiskeytown trails. Both BLM and the National Parks have been working diligently to fully reopen public access ever since.
Our goal is to bring back a fun, safe, inclusive, and respectful ride that showcases these great trails and shows that the fun can go on as landscapes and personnel change!
